The only difference between martyrdom and suicide is press coverage,

Supposed to be doing my readings for the week, but young gymnasts jumping my childhood dreams out on the trampoline won me over.
Just saw my Psychology mid term paper topics and I must admit that I'm completely fazed.

On a completely irrelevant note, (distraction here probably used as a coping mechanism, and no I need no psychoanalysis on this) this song brings back bounds and bounds of memories.
We gotta do our Chinese creation recording of this before you leave for the windy city, Karen!!!
Eurgh I miss how we could do all these rubbish and be all carefree and sing Technologic everyday in the creepy version and scream at each other at the sign of anything in relation with the number after nine.

Breakfast and Blessings Part II,

11/08/2010 Yet another rare chance to get breakfast together and being morning people, we settled on morning brunch @ Rider's cafe at the quaint Fairways Drive.
Brought back nostalgic memories of turf city trainings (even though it was the old turf city) :)

Sorry if I was so late on that morning, thousand apologies!!!

No pictures of the food but the yogurt with granola/fruit was really good :)
Plans for kite flying at Marina barrage but got jeopardized by the sudden downpour :(
It's a university day but doesn't seem like it, wish such days lingered a little longer and the cool weather here to stay.

The beauty of connecting the dots,

29/07 After (nearly) months of vocal rehearsals and days of Outward Bound School on the offshore island of Pulau Ubin (plus filtration assessments for the rest); 29th July 2010 was the day we were conferred our fruit of labour.

It has been a humbling experience to meet such an inspiring and capable bunch, with such callings and high hopes for life - and even higher hopes for the enterprising world.
For I quote Khairul, "We found out that some of us have started our own public speaking training firms, or published our own e-Books, or started our own tuition agencies. We also found out that there were those amongst us who are gifted in Taekwondo, Volleyball, Canoeing, and Track & Field, among many others. We found out, that during our final interview with Chairman, there are those amongst us who felt that it would be good exposure to be seconded to a Crocodile Farm."

The enterprising spirit has indeed been infectious; and these experiences have definitely cemented and polished my idea of possessing this Tipping point skill.

I would definitely miss hanging out with all of you, even for the rehearsals! A bunch of people I've naturally grown close to in these couple of months, especially through Outward Bound. Being 24/7 around them, all defenses down and outfield setting; not to mention our raft expedition and even tougher expedition of surviving commando mosquitoes.

And not to mention all our after-rehearsal supper/dinner/tea rituals

We may have had a small glitch in skipping the entire verse in I'm Yours but we certainly sound the best (out of all rehearsals) on the real day, something to be truly thankful for :)
Vocal rehearsals have certainly paid off!
And of course a big shout out to the musicians and fellow lead singers who have been so encouraging and motivating to the entire team; and to everyone's words of encouragement and congratulations throughout the ceremony

On my part, I was thankful that my speech went on well, all in God's grace.
It may have only been a short and sweet 5 minutes but hope it was infectious in spreading the beauty of each and every congratulations you all deserve :)
It was indeed an honour to speak as a representative for the batch, but an even greater honour to be a part of the family!
Truly a memorable day to celebrate and be thankful for ♥♥

Breakfast and Blessings Part I,

26/7/10 Lazy (and rare) weekday breakfast@Prive before R flew off to Brunei, miss the lovely morning after-shower breeze by the bay.
It's a rare chance we get to have breakfast on a peace weekday morning so we settled for a cosy waterfront cafe tucked away from the world.
With the cool weather, toast, hot oatmeal and chocolate coated strawberries seemed like the perfect escape. (Albeit the threatening few raindrops that trickled down the trees above)
Thank goodness the outdoor lounge wasn't soaked!

Just love days like that to watch the world go by :)
Scuttled my way to NUS for dance practice with the other Arts raggers ♥♥♥

Little joys,

That colour the monotony amidst the much dreaded start of August aka college life.
3 hours, 3 girls, 3 cups of green tea, infinite memories (of the tiniest weirdest things)

Will miss having both -RENs by my side, sipping onto the nostalgic carefree memories of Crescent - we have to do this more often! (Hope it isn't too late)

Why so sappy,

The Koreans have a knack of creating such sappy storylines packed into a mere five minutes that plays around with your emotions.
I'm never a sucker for Korean music videos, especially the Korean pop culture.
Any hybrid of Asian romance and depression reminds me of Windstruck instinctively.

As tall as lions,

University has officially started, and ironically it is when I finally crawl out of my inertia to update my cosy corner tucked away in virtual space. (And when my body starts to crumble under the build up of fatigue)
I haven't really gotten to do everything on my "before school starts" list but I got to immerse myself in some amazing projects with some really awfully amazing people.
For that, I have no regrets.

College life hasn't really settled in much as of yet, but it doesn't really stray much from the classic picture of lectures, friends, food and fun ♥♥♥

Right now, the next four years seem like giants.
will update more soon, ciao!

Speeches are to express not impress,

Happy belated birthday R!
I don't usually do shout outs here but since we were both confined during your birthday in our respective camps and I haven't seen you in ages, here's a special thank you for the past two amazing years and counting :)
I pray that the Lord's grace will continue to shine upon you, and empower you with His strength especially in camp and through NS, "whether we are at home or away, we make it our aim to please Him." 2 Corinthians 4:10 I'm sorry that my phone died before midnight while I was outfield in Ubin forest!! God bless ♥♥♥

I'm back from wilderness and into civilization!
Have been meaning to update this piece of virtual world tucked in the cosy cozy of mine for an extremely long time, but I've got this speech to write due tomorrow so I better starting knocking.
(I know I have tons of backlogged pictures)
Camp has been pretty awesome, with the company we had which I'm super thankful for (Especially my team), unforgettable memories forged hahaha 1, 2, Pulllllll slowly fading to I want to poo.
Vocal + Musical rehearsals tonight (Heehee albeit my husky voice, hopefully I won't sound too bad) and possibly Arts Rag and CIRD meetup tomorrow :)
In the meantime I shall scuttle off to string my heartfelt words together and hopefully they'll flow beautifully to inspire the rest of the scholars ♥
It's such an immense honour that I shan't take lightly, after all speeches are meant to express not impress.
So dez ne.

P.S. Online shopping parcels are arriving today! Plus my Macbook Pro, hohoho.

Thursday, 8 July 2010

I hereby state my lack of an update,

A thousand apologies!
Updates soon when I get back from Ubin; will be away at camp from 9th to 11th July 2010.
Message if anything, hopefully contactable :)

Voices in the Sky

Bluebird, flying high
Tell me what you sing
If you could talk to me
What news would you bring
Of voices in the sky

Takeaways and missing lunches,

Oh no, workaholic syndrome.

Summer bummer (for now)

Say hello to my morning dosage of honey oats and muesli bars, a routine that never fails to start the day on that right note.
Work has been good, and Godly colleagues a great joy to be with each day. (Albeit my short stint)
Much to see, much to do, much to learn.
For now, heat pads on my lower abdomen shall be my faithful companions for the night, with that cup of hot ginger by my bedside brewed with Mummy's love.

Survival Tip #1

Work has been so far, so good :)
Book Launch + charity sales of mushrooms and mangoes + Only liaise point for 360 schools out there + News Summary reports + reflection pieces for the website + cramming a whole new lot of acronyms sounds like amazing first assignments.

Create your own world,

Just came back from walking Cathy, it's late morning and I'm spending my time with a bowl of home-stirred noodles. (Fragrant sesame oil and a wok does the magic)
Was planning to play wii and hit the gym but I couldn't resist slouching on the couch with Ugly Betty on the play.
Four months for Molly to live her newly wed life , Three in a team towards the YETI project, Two marriage proposals, and a happy ending how romantic.
Okay scratch that, Molly just collapsed, this is such a redundant post.
Shall go bake for my last day of leisure.

It's a short week, I start work tomorrow!

Thursday joy,

Had a blissful time catching up with my two girls yesterday over lunch @ Penny Black, despite Sand having to hurry off to work an hour (or thereabouts) after, to whom we sent our love and warmth to in the office! ♥♥♥
Lunch next Mondaaayy when I start work again!

(Insert picture of Shiany who has been sucked into a black hole of work here for archiving purposes)
Really, really good to catch up with yunxiang with all the talking ♥ (heehee) once again over Cream parfait @ Marvelous Cream (which zhihong was raving about, more appetizing than aesthetically pleasing I must say) plus shopping all around town. (Thanks for accompanying to buy work related stuff!)
I'll miss you when you fly over to the big apple and windy city :(

Layout change,

Finally switched to the new layout scheme because I've been such a diehard on the old classic mode.
Meeting the girls later for lunch, can't wait :)

This post is dedicated to you and knitting,

With you still back in camp, it feels a tad strange to have so much free time in my hands.
Instant pictures work as pick me ups, and I hope your board's gonna be filled with them by the time you commission :)

And while he's knocking it down in the far West (In the hundreds, mind you) , I'm still drowning in yarnballs such as the one on my table below, knitting is really tedious especially when you keep making wrong stitches!
But I love the feel of the texture, and it feels like you're weaving out magic with your hands ♥

Went down to the fabric store earlier and I got free scrap fabric such as the one below as a bonus.
Material for a scarf yes no?
Floral prints (especially in jumpsuits and tights) are in once again, and Zara mixes them well with their May 2010 feeling neutrals which are more feminine than February's casual hybrid of romance and military.
Gallivanting Lookbook once again :}

Love this dress

If I had more time in hand I'd have loved to do dressmaking, aside from the cutesy barbie-doll sized outfits for my old dolls of course!

On a side note, I've decided to try something new and instead of Human Resource (because there's no current vacancy) or something more operational, I've taken up a job in Corporate Communications and International relations department.
I'm very thankful for the bountiful opportunities that He has provided me with, for one door closes and many others opened.
Still praying for His direction,

"For we walk by faith, not by sight."
2 Corinthians 5:7

By Faith, just like how the Bible tells us to "walk as Scripture directs" Romans 10:17 and that in all that matters, we live by them for His words are our sword. Sure, we can never be certain on what God really wants us to do, or perhaps sometimes it's that gut feeling or intuition that sways us from the inside. In fact, faith is something so intangible that it can't be seen through sight but experienced through your heart. (Relate to 2 Peter 1) Even if it means having something so dear to you being ripped away from your sight.

"Not that I am speaking of being in need, for I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content."
Philippians 4:11

Local or overseas, bond or bond-free, employed or unemployed, it's really what you do to make the best of what you have and His plans and purpose for you will naturally fall through.
It stings in the process (especially through spiritual warfare) but the experience will leverage you to a whole new level.
