(Pan)demonium in your room,

Met up with the gang @ Cityhall on 21st May for Skinny pizza and to celebrate TH's 23rd birthday! Love the Squid ink thin crust pizza and truffle fries there, unfortunately the latter was unavailable on that day so we ordered more pizzas to satisfy our after-work hunger (Thriving in airconditioning all day long can really work up an appetite) The birthday boy was late, so we ordered and took pictures before him....all picture credits to Xiner :)

It was a pleasant dinner, after which XE, H and I cooked up excuses to leave early (funny how he didn't look too upset) - that's when the fun started! The rest helped to stall time while we darted across the Raffles city basement to choose a cake and made our way down to TH's house to hide in his room, whilst liaising with his brother who was really hospitable. Everything went on as planned, and since they made a detour for drinks from a nearby supermarket, we amused ourselves in his room. Hasan wanted to do a grossly seductive shot with the bed frame, which was obviously not captured digitally because we were all in stitches and tears from laughing too hard (laughing abs hooray hahaha) and the best part was that they tried forcing me to it but...we couldn't bring ourselves to for many reasons.

Soon after, we got the cake ready, lit the candles, got the camera ready, waited......and waited, and waited and waited in the dark. The candles were burning down fast, and every time we held our breaths thinking that he was going to turn the doorknob - he continued talking to his family. But lo and behold, he finally came in! Unfortunately, D and YM got delayed by the bus and couldn't reach in time, but it was still a good surprise ^^

Happy blessed 23rd birthday! :)

Audrie's 21st @ Fosters

Happy blessed 21st birthday girlfriend! ♥ I remembered how we crashed her place for a surprise 20th party last year (ganged up with her mumsie) and she treated us shabu shabu in this post ^^ This year, she had a formal party held @ Fosters, which is really exciting because the scones are heavenly....and also because a dear friend turned 21 teehee. Really missing the good ole IB times where we used to share chemistry/relationship/gossip/IB/racial harmony day/teachercoughV&Lcough/girl woes and our multishot pictures!

The theme was Anglophilia, and I thought that the party was really well planned - especially with a proper programme with games and music going on. Here we are filling up nonsense answers for a pop quiz on questions on her and on Anglophilic related items! (Pardon Carren's and my sleepy eyes in subsequent pictures...)

Segment where she sang and dedicated a sweet song to her mum ♥

Her cake was made entirely out of jelly, look at the layers!

Remnants of my clumsily eaten scone and finger sandwiches, you can order this à la carte Devonshire Cream Tea set @ $11++ from 3pm-6pms everyday, comes with a selection of cream and butter and served with a pot of tea or coffee :) Love the cosy interior, Carren and I were eyeing the cushion seats the whole time...

Here we go again,

Happy blessed 23rd birthday Yiangmeng! Headed down to The Icing room to decorate him a cake, which turned out quite creative (props to Delvin's SNAG skills hehe) I thought it was quite an enterprising venture, since the materials themselves are pretty inexpensive.

Favourite picture out of the lot - everyone in their own respective worlds ♥  (Except that my Mango dress looks like a romper here)

Dinner @ Food for thought!

Hot fries and a slice of chocolate rum cake on the house ^^

Headed down to Singapore Arts museum whilst waiting for the restaurant to be opened in hope of escaping the heat - interesting exhibits going on.

I was terribly fascinated by the clocks installation, where clocks of differing speed were erected on the walls - signifying the time taken for a person to die from the inscribed illness. When the needle spins a full circle, their melodious chimes creeps up on you at first but you start getting accustomed to the harmony after a while, devoid of the initial intense emotions. (Which reflects the clinical nature of new age information because we're so overexposed to stimuli around, startling but true) Infusing a bit of social psychology here, the reflective surface of the clocks also made us more vulnerable to being self-aware in the situation. "Each statistic becomes but a lone number in an endless sea of data we no longer react to, this installation tries to humanize this anonymous sea of data, injecting some of that life back into the idea of information by engaging us on a personal level, encouraging viewers to reflect upon the nature of the knowledge we receive."

Another exhibit that caught me off guard was "The Need of an Alteration" by Andree Weschler. It was hard to stomach at first, but it became oddly mesmerizing and we had our eyes fixated on the clip (which was on loop and playing backwards) for a good 15 minutes. The artist is the actress herself, and the clip shows her belching out black ink from her mouth; and sucking it back up in the parallel screen (played on reverse). All I remembered was that the performance was about the symbolism of the black chinese ink, possibly juxtaposed against her white fair complexion, and it being the metaphor for release or burden; or clean VS dirty.

This particular installation was mind boggling too, but I can't recall the artist name nor the explication for it whoops.
