Breakfast, interrupted

I cannot resist putting this up here, a treasure amongst my Facebook newsfeed spread - been watching rewinds of it a couple of times. (Shot by a Phantom Flex HS)
It's amazing how they mechanized so well, iiiinspiring.
It's barely evening and I've eaten breakfast around the clock, lazy morning @ Coffee bean with garlic bagel with cream cheese and strawberry jam and my trusty ole Mac for company while waiting for my friend.
And as I'm typing, I'm devouring tart cherries, vanilla country yoghurt (best yoghurt eevvveerrrr) and an impromptu ham sandwich I just whipped out.

Company last night was goood, came back really late though (Mumsie wasn't too pleased) and my feet hurts from my heels.
I'm also slightly groggy from the lack of sleep but it feels like I'm stuck in the limbo between battling to stay awake to carry on with the day and wanting to hit the sheets.

Oh and another thing, cream cheese and Mac trackpads do not go together.
Apologies for such a scattered post, may you collect my thoughts and piece them well.

"It's Hallmark's holiday, not mine"

The day of renewed promises for the next 365 days - this year's was the usual no-frills celebrations. "It's a Hallmark holiday, not mine" I quote my mum. But still, it's a day to be thankful for the other 364 days in the year for her when we sometimes take them for granted ☺

We settled with Cafe mosaic (@ Carlton hotel) for the Mother's Day lunch (we don't do this every year) after many frantic days of last minute bookings for my family. Good spread, they gave free cupcakes and freebies for the mothers, so now we have a couple of 1-for-1 hi-tea @ the gravity bar ♥ (Any good reviews?) The cupcakes were pretty smooshed up by then because of the humid weather and our haphazard handling - aesthetically and tastebuds appeasing nonetheless.

Was quite fun catching up with life after exams (last week) and getting used to my nephew's new trademark smile that even got the hotel staff giggling.

Blessed afternoon spent @ Far East flora and sniffing out good plant deals with my mum and rushing back home for a dip in the (icy as usual) pool before heading out for a night of FRIENDS and relaxing in the east.
It's amazing how serene a flora can be, even on such a baked hot day, the fertilizer filled air and the occasional fly springing up on you.
God creations and His endowed gardening skills are an awe ☺

P.S. Still very tempted to move over to Tumblr but migrating all my old posts is certainly very painful

Summer bakin' in the oven,

Baked (or in a safer expression, attempted) a batch of mini chocolate lava cakes - the simpler version of it, that is.
Didn't had the appropriate baking tin for it so made do with whatever I had in hand; tasted quite good even though it didn't really looked very aesthetically pleasing (didn't use the folding technique to get rid of the air bubbles, hence the holey appearance, oh the memories of Home economics)
Used a recipe but the proportion of the ingredients were dubious so I tweaked a bit:
Photos taken by Canon Ixus digital

1/2 cup of butter
1/2 cup icing sugar
6 tablespoons of flour
2 eggs (yolk included)
90% dark cocoa chocolate
1 teaspoon Vanilla essence

Paper muffin cups (optional, didn't use them)

1/2 cup of butter

1/2 cup icing sugar

6 tablespoons of flour

2 eggs (yolk included)

Didn't use the paper muffin cups in the end, too flimsy

90% dark cocoa chocolate

The middle chocolate was supposed to be runny though, but I used the muffin pan instead of the bigger baking tin for it so it was pretty much expected.
It turned out pretty soft and nice with cake texture gradually increasing towards the outer corners.
Can't quite describe it in words so I think I'm exaggerating a bit; taste best warm.

My friend baked them too, and he kept it in the fridge. Makes good brownies in that way he says! Kept mine in an airtight container and lasts for about 4 days max.

Floating glasses and sand beneath our feet,

Missing this ♥ Where are all of you!!

Off to collect my SLR film camera from Paya Lebar Post office before attempting to Ice skate, dinner and (near) midnight Pirates of the Carribean thanks to Felicia's great deal, can't wait to see the PRU gang once again, despite knowing I'm gonna be seeing them pretty much the whole week☺

Keep calm and snap on,

2 cups of milk bubble tea was enough to spur the caffeine-induced adventurer in me to take a long photo walk back along the bend to Stirling Road. (Albeit being such an amateur)
This was a couple of weeks back, still fresh and alive before the commencement of the semestral exams.
The Singaporean in me also motivated me to maximize use of the DSLR I had loaned from the photography society (P.S. Got to loan it again for this week)

The skies and clouds were being really cooperative, plus the gradual tint of the bus windows gave some of the pictures a very lomography feel.

I've never actually took an appreciative walk around my new estate area (see last post, they're demolishing my old place)
Even when I do, I'm just in a half-concussed state walking Cathy or Pretzel in the early morning sunshine.

Still feels amazing to have IKEA meatballs and the train station at your backgate, friendly security guards and that beckoning gym alike - even though I've clearly moved here more than a year ago!

Just came back from town (Source code was pretty good, Jake Gyllenhaal!) plus a satisfied craving for Orange Julius and eclairs for dinner; life's wonders.
